The Israel-Palestine conflict has raged for decades, but its roots lie in history, religion, and the double standards within Islamic doctrine. On one hand, Muslims cite the Quran—the word of Allah—as their authority; on the other, they deny the very promises made in that same book. They claim the Al-Aqsa Mosque as Islam’s holy site, yet history shows that no such mosque existed during Muhammad’s time. Let’s peel back the layers of this controversy and ask: Are Muslims actually fighting against the will of their own Allah?
1. The Quran Affirms Israel’s Right, Not Palestine’s
The Quran mentions “Bani Isra’il” (Children of Israel) at least 17 times (Surah 2:40, 2:47, 5:21, 7:137, etc.). In Surah 5:21, Allah tells Moses, “O my people! Enter the Holy Land which Allah has assigned to you.” This “Holy Land” refers to the land of the Jews, also called the “Promised Land” in the Torah (Deuteronomy 1:8) and the Bible. However, the word “Palestine” does not appear even once in the Quran. Why? Because “Palestine” as a region or country didn’t exist at the time.
The word “Palestine” originates from the Hebrew “Peleshet” (Exodus 15:14), referring to Philistines—sea raiders from the island of Crete. Roman Emperor Hadrian renamed Judea to “Syria Palaestina” in 135 CE after crushing the Bar Kokhba revolt, as a deliberate insult to the Jews—meant to make them feel like foreign raiders had conquered their land. Historian Bernard Lewis explains that the term was rarely used as a geographic designation in the medieval period. After the Arab conquest, the area was called “Jund Filastin,” but even this referred to the land of the Jews—not to a separate “Palestinian” people.
So the real question is: If the Quran never mentions Palestine, what are Muslims fighting for? And doesn’t the Quran itself confirm that prophethood and revelation were given to Isaac’s lineage—especially to Jacob (Israel) and his sons, including Judah?
2. Quran 29:27 — Prophethood and Scripture Were Given to Isaac
Qur’an 29:27:
“And We bestowed upon him (Abraham) Isaac and Jacob, and We established the prophethood and the Scripture among his descendants…”
This verse clearly states that both prophethood and divine scripture were placed among Abraham’s descendants through Isaac and Jacob (Israel).
3. Who Are the “Children of Israel”?
“Bani Isra’il” means “Children of Israel.”
Israel = Another name for Jacob.
According to the Bible (Genesis 32:28), Jacob wrestled one night with a divine being — described as either the angel of God. The struggle lasted all night, and finally Jacob prevailed.
Then he was told:
“Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and have overcome.”
Thus Jacob was given the new name “Israel.” The word Israel (יִשְׂרָאֵל / Yisra’el) literally means — “the one who struggled with God and won.”
Later, Jacob (Israel) had twelve sons, from whom came the twelve tribes of the Children of Israel. In this way, “Israel” became not just a personal name but the collective identity of his entire lineage and nation.
The Quran addresses “Bani Isra’il” multiple times (2:40, 2:47, 5:12, 7:137), meaning the descendants of Jacob, including his 12 sons—Judah, Levi, Joseph, Benjamin, Dan, etc.
4. Jews = Descendants of Judah
In the Old Testament (Genesis 29:35 & 49:8–10), Judah was Jacob’s fourth son. Later, the southern kingdom of Israel was named “Judah,” and its inhabitants came to be known as “Jews.”
The Quran itself refers to Jews as “Yahud” —
➤ Surah Al-Baqarah 2:62:
“Inna alladhina amanu wa alladhina hadu…”
(Those who believed, and those who became Jews…)
This confirms that the Quran recognizes Jews as a religious and ethnic group descended from the Children of Israel and the sons of Jacob.
5. Judah’s Lineage = Jews = Heirs of Scripture and Prophethood
Jacob’s sons:
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Joseph, Benjamin.
From Judah’s lineage came prophets like David and Solomon—showing that divine scripture and prophethood continued in Judah’s line.
6. Al-Aqsa Mosque: Nothing to Do with Islam
Muslims consider Al-Aqsa Mosque the third holiest site in Islam. Surah 17:1 refers to “Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa” (the farthest mosque), where Muhammad is said to have gone during his night journey (Mi’raj). But what’s the truth?
Fact 1: Muhammad died in 632 CE. At that time, there was no building known as “Al-Aqsa Mosque.” The Second Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount had been destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. Only ruins remained. Historian Hugh Kennedy confirms that construction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque began under Caliph Abd al-Malik in 685 CE and was completed between 705–715 CE—nearly 70 years after Muhammad’s death. So which “mosque” did he visit?
Fact 2: In the Mi’raj story, Muhammad tied his winged mule (Buraq) to the mosque’s gate. This is recorded in Sahih Bukhari (Hadith 3207). But since the Temple Mount was in ruins by 70 CE, what gate was he referring to? This raises serious doubts about the authenticity of the story.
Fact 3: Some Islamic scholars like Ibn Hisham say “Al-Aqsa” was symbolic, not a physical mosque. But later caliphs linked it to the Temple Mount to assert Islamic claims. Some claim Solomon’s Temple was “Al-Aqsa,” but Quran 34:13 mentions “tamasil” (statues) in Solomon’s temple. The Bible also confirms cherubim (statues) in Solomon’s Temple (1 Kings 6:23–28). Since Islam forbids idols, this contradicts the claim that it was a mosque. Hadiths like Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 2806, Sahih Muslim 2104, and Sunan Abi Dawud 4158 show that angels wouldn’t enter homes with images or statues. So if the Temple had idols, it couldn’t have been a mosque. This was a fabricated claim.
7. Occupation of Temple Mount: A Strategy to Humiliate Jews
The second Caliph Umar captured Jerusalem in 638 CE and built a mosque on the Temple Mount. Later, the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque were constructed. This site was the holiest for Jews. Choosing it was no accident. Historian Martin Gilbert notes that Islamic conquests often turned temples into mosques—like the Babri structure in Ayodhya or the church-turned-mosque in Cordoba, Spain. Building a mosque on the Temple Mount was a similar act—to put the Jewish temple under Islamic feet.
Today, the Western Wall—Judaism’s “Wailing Wall”—stands just below Al-Aqsa. Millions of Jews pray there annually, but Muslim authorities try to restrict access. The humiliation continues. If Temple Mount itself was Al-Aqsa, why didn’t Muslims rebuild it? Why construct a separate mosque?
8. Partition: Hindus Accepted, Muslims Rejected
In 1947, India was partitioned. Hindus accepted it, despite the bloodshed. That same year, UN Resolution 181 proposed partitioning the land between Israel and Palestine. Jews accepted it. But the Arab nations and Muslims rejected it. The result? The day after Israel’s independence in 1948, five Arab nations (Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq) attacked it. Historian Benny Morris in “1948: A History of the First Arab-Israeli War” writes that the Arab League dismissed the partition as a “Jewish conspiracy.”
Had Muslims accepted the partition, there would be no Gaza crisis or West Bank conflict today. But Islamic history shows that once a land becomes “Dar al-Islam,” it must never be relinquished. From Spain to India, Muslim rulers have tried to reclaim lost lands. The same applies to Israel. The question is—when Muslims demanded and received Pakistan in India, why is Israel’s share considered illegitimate?
9. Islam’s Double Standards: It Takes, But Never Gives
From the 7th to 13th centuries, Muslims conquered Spain, India, and the Balkans. But when Jews returned to their land, it was called “occupation.” In Quran 5:21, Allah gave the land to Jews, yet Muslims deny it. See the deceit: modern Quran translations sneak the word “Palestine” into brackets in verse 5:21—even though it doesn’t exist in the Arabic text. To justify their claim, they forge words into Allah’s revelation.
In the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel captured Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. Since then, Israel has offered peace (Camp David 1978, Oslo Accords 2000), but Palestinian leadership (PLO, Hamas) rejected them. Hamas’s 1988 charter clearly states: “Our goal is to eliminate Israel.” With such intent, peace can never be genuine.
10. The Farce of Child Casualties: Hamas and Muhammad’s Precedent
On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 250 hostages (Source: IDF). In return, Israeli strikes killed children in Gaza, sparking global outrage. But is Hamas not responsible? In Sahih Muslim 1745b, Muhammad said, “If women and children are killed during night raids, so be it. They are from among them (the disbelievers).” If this was acceptable in the age of swords, why blame Israel for unintentional deaths by bombs?
Hamas fires rockets from civilian areas (UN Watch Report, 2023), using civilians as human shields to draw retaliatory fire and gain global sympathy. This tactic isn’t new—Arab forces used civilians at Yarmouk in 636 CE. In India, during protests and stone-pelting, women and children are pushed forward to play the victim card. So why not blame Hamas for exploiting children’s deaths?
11. The Jewish Pain and Their Right to Their Land
Jews endured 2,000 years of exile, persecution, and genocide (6 million killed in the Holocaust). Still, they only reclaimed the land mentioned in the Torah (Deuteronomy 1:8), the Bible, and Quran (5:21). They never claimed Mecca or Baghdad. Even after 1948, they accepted partition—but Muslims didn’t. If India had been a Muslim country and Hindus demanded partition, they would have been massacred—history proves this. Wherever Islam spread, native cultures never returned. But Jews are fighting to preserve their roots. Is that not justice?
Conclusion: Why Are Muslims Fighting Against Their Own Allah?
At its core, the Israel-Palestine conflict is not about land or peace. It stems from an Islamic mindset that denies even the promises of its own scripture (Quran 5:21), while fighting over a mosque (Al-Aqsa) that didn’t exist during Muhammad’s time. Jews are merely defending their rightful heritage, while Muslims are attempting to strip them of even that—despite Allah’s own words.Final Question:
If the Quran—the word of Allah—clearly states that the land belongs to the Jews, why are Muslims fighting against the will of their own Allah?
